Having based the company on the development of innovative techniques for precious metal processing and fabrication, coatings, and subsequent advanced surface modifications, we have been able to participate in numerous R & D projects as contract developers as well as joint ventures. Product demands driven by either commercial needs or legislation are always our first consideration. Much of our research is based upon not so much as present day applications, but what future technologies will require. Some of the research that we are involved in is the development of a coating to protect nuclear pipes from the deterioration that can occur from the exposure of radiation over a period of time. We are also developing a catalyst for automobile catalytic converters that will not rely upon expensive precious metals but be just as efficient and effective as future emission control regulations will require. We have also been involved in numerous medical research projects from the development and testing of new coatings for stents to the testing of metals and their reaction as surgical implants as well as their use in the transportation of antibiotics.
